The Trouble With Travis

I have a problem with Travis. I can't figure him out and it's driving me insane! The reason it's driving me insane is because I am fighting this compulsion to pigeon hole and label him. I'm trying to make him fit some stupid stereotype and I don't like it. I don't want to do that, but dayum if it isn't hard!

Am I making sense? Probably not. Let me explain, as soon as I clapped eyes on Travis, I called GAY. As soon as he opened his mouth, I called FLAMING, as soon as he minced around and shrieked hysterically on that first night, I called QUEEN.

And then...............he was/is quite adamant that he is straight. He doesn't just deny being gay, he says outright that he is 100% into girls! Yet my gaydar and hundreds of others on the various forums, are going off the Richter every time he comes on screen.

BUT WHY DOES IT MATTER???

What is this need for me to have Travis' sexuality confirmed one way or another? If he is gay, but doesn't want to out himself on national TV, what the fuck business is it of mine? If he is straight, why should he have to defend his claim? Why should we mention his sexuality at all???

The other HM's have said repeatedly that he is "unique", and he is. He is unlike any HM we've seen in the BB house. Big call, but I'm making it. On the one hand he is religious and will not have sex before marriage, but I've seen him listen enthralled (and sometimes disgusted) when the others are having sexual conversations. Is he just completely innocent and curious?
And what of his comments about homosexuality? He said, and I quote, " At the end of the day you can decide to be gay, it's a lifestyle choice". So is he fighting some urges of his own? Not willing to CHOOSE to be gay???

His friendship with Nobbi is interesting as well. They are very touchy/feely with each other and if Travis were a girl (OR an out gay man) I'd say he has a crush! He asked Nobbi on Tuesday night if there were anyone in the house he'd like to "know a little better" he then said in a sing song, almost flirtatious voice, "Do you want to know more about Trav?"
I swear he batted his eyelashes!!!
What about when he washed Nobbi in the outdoor shower?? Even washed his arse crack!!

It's not just the voice either, although it probably doesn't help matters, but if he had some deep, manly voice yet still behaved the way he does, I'd still think he was gay.

My point is though, who are we to judge? He's a lovely, sensitive, thoughtful, young man who is constantly upbeat and positive. He's articulate and intelligent and warm hearted, so what does it matter whether he is gay, straight or undecided??

The Big Brother house is all about putting people under the microscope. We are voyeurs, disecting and analysying the HM's like they are exhibits in a zoo, and at the end of the day seeing as how we choose the "winner" in this game, making judgments and forming opinions on the HM's is what we do.

Maybe I and everyone else can just accept Travis for the "unique" character he is, and enjoy him for what he brings to the show.................

All the while hoping he goes the pash with Nobbi in the Kombi! Huzzah!! ;)

How much are we loving the evicted housemate's revenge bomb? First there was Terri, sending Nobbi to the Kombi, and now poor wittle Bwigette loses all her possessions.

Have you ever seen someone lose their shit so hard over something so trivial??
I was gobsmacked last night watching Brigitte's reaction to Saxon's hand grenade. My two year old niece doesn't even act like that! It was appalling! I was embarrassed for her.
How can someone her age carry on like that????

Brigitte is obviously very spoilt and is not used to being told "NO". Obviously, tears work well for her on the outside, but holy fuck it was cringeworthy to watch.
At first I thought she was playing up to the cameras, but seeing her laying prone, sobbing, on the diary room chair, I realised she was SERIOUS!

Now, people who know me understand I am a fashion whore, I have a shoe fetish, and if someone took a blowtorch to my favourite things I'd need to be locked away for my own safety, BUT, Brigitte is only losing her things for a few weeks, maybe a few months, tops! It's not the end of the fucking world and certainly not something to go on a hunger strike for!!
Her immaturity is mind blowing, I just can't comprehend it!!

I'm so loving her breakdown. I've always been a fan of trainwreck TV and I seriously hope BB messes with her head (as empty as it is) some more before she's released back to the mental asylum from whence she came.

Last night's daily show was very entertaining. Not only the Bwigitte breakdown, but seeing Dixie take on Ben for being the two faced little bitch he is. Dixie has his number, and the pussyboy is not going to get away with anything around her.

The other focus of the daily show was the "cloud door" reveal. Alice, Dave, Rory and Renee, "flew" to sunny Bali, where they are currently living in the lap of luxury. I don't really see the point of this yet, and for once I actually HOPE there is a twist to it. I know, I know, I change like the weather. Shut up!!

The task although not very entertaining, will be good for annoying the HM's. I thought it hilarious last night how every time Terri started in on a rant, a ball would come flying out. Novel way of shutting someone up.

Big Mouth was also better than the week before. The hosts seemed more comfortable, Chrissie and Tim were in fine form taking on Saxon about his reformed racist stance, and we once again got another perspective on some of the HM's via the uncut footage.

Overall, last night showed a glimmer of hope. Let's not give up on this caper just yet.

Sunday Eviction # 1. SAXON!!

Tonight was the unveiling of the new eviction system, and personally, I'm still in two minds about it.
For those that have been living under a rock for a few weeks, it goes down like this; The public vote to SAVE the HM's they like. At the end of the week, the bottom three HM's with the least save votes, are put up for eviction. The HM's then vote (two points and one point) who they would like evicted, except for the winner of FNL who gets four points and two points to use on evicting a HM, AND also gets to SAVE one HM from eviction. The person with the next least save votes then gets put up to take their place.

In yet another twist, the bottom three HM's also get to nominate each other too and their votes are kept secret until the end.

After this somewhat exhausting process, the three HM's get into "the revolver". Two HM's are put back in the house, and the one with the most eviction points is spun out to "the bleachers" where Jackie-O is waiting to interview them.

*Takes a breath, tries to clear head*

So, the bottom three HM's were Saxon, David and Rebecca. After Travis used his save power, Rebecca was spared (how redundant, the beeyotch was whining to go home all week) and Rory was put up in her place.

This is the only part of the process I enjoyed, watching the self proclaimed "spa mafia" facing eviction. They were all shocked, in particular Rory and David, it was a joy to behold.

The HM eviction votes went down like this;

Renee- 2 points Saxon because he has "a beef" with lots of the HM's, herself included. 1 point to David, siting strategy (which is stupid, because if she really believed that she would have given him two points instead of one.

Bianca- 2 points, saxon as there was tension between them and 1 point to David for interrupting conversations. Yeah, i shit you not.

Ben, 2 points David, for saying he was "king of the kids". That whole alpha male thing going on again, Ben wants that role, has zero chance. 1 point Saxon, for being threatening and "making the girls uncomfortable".

Alice- 2 points Saxon for causing rifts in the groups and 1 point to Rory for basically the same reason.

Nobbi- 2 points David for being fake, and 1 point to Rory because he's closer to Saxon.

Brigitte- 2 points to Saxon for complaining about food and 1 point to Rory because he's messy.

Dixie- 2 points to Saxon for being 'stubborn, opinionated and disrespectful', 1 point to David, again saying it's strategic, but that's bollocks in my opinion.

Rebecca, 2 to Saxon for being aggressive, 1 point to Rory because he's younger than Dave and therefore will have more opportunities in life. whaaaaaaaat?

Travis- 4 points to David because in group convos he doesn't listen to him. And 2 points to Rory for talking "graphically"

On the one hand I'm loving BB not grilling the HM's on their choices, that got so old last year, but on the other hand, some of the reasons were beyond lame and they maybe SHOULD have been called on them.

Anyhoo, after the nominated HM's voted ; Saxon- 2 David, 1 Rory. David- 2 Saxon, 1 Rory, and Rory went 2 David and 1 Saxon. Saxon was evicted..........or revolved out of the house.

The eviction show I thought was very anti-climactic. I really missed the tension and anticipation of the "It's time to go (one minute pause) SAXON". I missed the instant reaction of the evicted HM, I missed the reactions of the other HM's, I missed the whole walk on stage excitement, I missed the whole eviction vibe. It just wasn't there, and there seemed to be way too much going on.
The revolving door and "bleachers" eviction was just naff! I didn't see the point of that at all except of course that it was again "different" from last year. Different isn't always better, as was clearly demonstrated tonight.

On the plus side I LOVE the new nominations process. I love the voting to save business and the uncertainty of it all, I just wish it was more cohesive and flowed better.
It will be interesting to see how the behaviour of the HM's changes this week, knowing that the public are voting to nominate, and it really is game on. Watch for David and Rory, in particular to try for more air-time this week.

The other big "reveal" tonight, that I broke on BBBA this afternoon, was about the Cloud door. It seems a few HM's will be going on a "flight" to a secret holiday resort....all within the confines of the BB compound of course. I have no idea why this room exists or what it will be about, but all will be revealed in the next few days. I hope it lives up to the hype.

Put Your Stack Hat On, A Rant Is A-Brewin'!

I am not one of these nuffy's who after watching the first episode of BB cried, "It's shit, I'm not gonna watch". I'm not a producer basher, I like them. I adore the crew, they do a great job, but by fuck I'm pissed off today.

The whole Gatecrasher eviction was just bullshit. What in the hell was THAT about? why??
We haven't even been able to form an opinion on these guys and already, in yet another "snap eviction", two have been turfed. Terri had the thankless task of choosing two to leave so she could be considered a genuine housemate (after Corey refused to do it, and I'm sorry, hang me if you will, but I'm liking this kid more and more!)
What was the friggin point of putting them in there in the first place? Oh that's right, so us gormless fans could think we're actually a part of the show and CHOOSE who we want to see on BB.

There is plenty being said about the shenanigans in that whole process, but for the thousands of people who auditioned online, the thousands who voted, what a huge slap in the face! Last night's eviction made a mockery of the whole process (again).

Not only that, but BB has left himself with nowhere to go. If the eviction was another "fake" one and the two boys are now hidden away in the secret part of the house, it's going to become an even bigger joke. We've seen that before. We saw it last week with Terri! If the Terri debacle hadn't of happened, I'd be liking the idea of not actually losing the boys, but now it's a case of, again? You pretended to yoink someone again? Why?

Most people, including myself, like the idea of twists and unexpected turns on this show. But it's too soon and there are too many, and it smacks of a kind of desperation that I wouldn't expect to see this early on, if at all!
Why the need for so much interference? What happened to letting the show be about the "personalities"? Why not let the characters evolve for a week or so, get comfortable and THEN start to throw them a few curve balls?
It feels very much like shark jumping to me, like plot twists just for the sake of it, and all it has achieved is unsettling the fans, making us feel disconnected from the HM's AND, with all these BB induced "evictions" like we are no longer an active participant in this show, which is an integral part of the process. We do, supposedly, choose an eventual winner. No really, we do.

Enough with the snap/fake/unexpected evictions! WE want to choose who stays and who goes, hence the whole webmate bollocks that died in the arse! Let us get to know these HM's before they are chucked out.

The food thing- Sweet Jebus if I wanted to watch a house full of people obsessing about food I'd watch fucking re-runs of The Biggest Loser! They have to find a balance with that!

The clean up task- I am loathe to bag on tasks, I really am, but watching these people clean every day is akin to giving them a task whereby they count the blades of grass!! Not entertaining!!

ARgghhhhh!!! Please Big Brother, pull back a little, let the HM's do their thing with less involvement from you, at least for a week!
Give the show back to the fans.

What kind of fucking shambles was FNL tonight??? The games were actually good for a change and then BB fucks it all up by not knowing what the hell is going on with the Head of House twist!

The things I do! I just spent nearly three hours watching daily shows and Big Mouth, and I think I've almost figured out what the hell is going on.....Never mind the fact I was supposed to be working but when the boss is away.....Steph-A-Knee will play.

In regards to both daily shows, Mon/Tues, really don't have that much to say. If those are the only highlights, we could be in trouble! The only event that made me sit up and take notice, was Bianca's hissy fit over Corey. What was that TRULY about? I don't buy her "I want to be a role model for the youth of today" BS. Methinks she wants a job as an advice columnist with Dolly or some other teeny magazine. Taking the moral high ground against the likes of Corey Worthington, is no mean feat! She keeps pushing this image of being uber smart and moralistic, whilst all the while looking down her nose at everyone else. Lets face it, it wouldn't be too hard to feel superior amongst the other HM's. Corey is easy pickings.
Nanna, is getting on my last nerve. Yeah she's good for the house, blah,blah, but dayum she is hard to watch. The other HM's must have a secret stash of valium in there to be able to put up with her.

On to Big Mouth.
I LOVE this show, in particular, I adore Tim and Chrissie! Why have they never graced our telly's on a BB related show before???
The set was groovy, the banter entertaining, and the uncut pieces, illuminating.

The two main hosts looked a little uncomfortable at times, especially during the sex talk, but overall Tony Squires directed the conversations well and kept the whole thing flowing. Rebecca Wilson I was less impressed with, only because I KNOW she can go for the jugular and be the most opinionated and irritating person at times, and I'd like to see more of that come out on this show. She seemed to be holding back to me, and I want to see her let rip. Still, it was the first episode, no doubt someone will say or do something to push her buttons soon....fingers crossed.

The ex-hm panelists were just delicious! I have the biggest crush on both Tim and Chrissie....have I mentioned that already? Shaddap! But they were just so professional, polished, at ease and damn entertaining to listen to. Paul Dyer..........not so much, but it was his first crack at it and I think he'll get better.

I also loved the insight we got to a few of the HM's, in particular, RORY, what a prick! Travis, he's growing on me, I loved how he handled the situation with Rory, and also interestingly enough, BEN! Was it just me reading too much into it, or did he sort of hint at being gay?

Things I didn't like so much included; The rehashing of old footage. BB, you have HOURS of footage to show, please give us something new, and the amount of ad breaks was just ridiculous! I was lucky enough to fast forward through them all, but c'mon!!! Boooo!

I am so loving this new addition to my BB viewing schedule. It's long overdue.

Big What?

Enter The Gatecrashers!

First observation- How sorely did the show miss Gretel Killeen tonight? She's probably the only woman in Australia who can silence a whole audience with just a glare! Kyle and Jackie really struggled to control the crowd tonight, and it was painful to watch.
While I wholeheartedly support Corey Worthington being taken down a peg or three, I had to feel a tiny bit sorry for the fool. It would be hard enough for an adult to face that kind of wrath, but for a teen? I can't imagine.

I know the guy is a douchewagon (loving that word) but he didn't MURDER anyone! He threw a party and had a shit attitude about the kerfuffle that followed, and that's ALL. Sure he shouldn't be famous for it, he shouldn't have a manager and make any money from being a douchwagon, (sorry, promise I won't use it again this week) but he shouldn't be crucified either.

It's going to be interesting to see how he copes in the BB house and whether any attitudes will change towards him as a result. I doubt it somehow.

DOT POINT TIME!!! (Cos I'm lazy, so what!)

*Saxon rapping- For the love of God! If I see him do that again I may gouge my own ear drums out and throw them at him. What in the fuck was that about?? Awful.

*Brigitte and her unicorn- Over it. I hope someone hurls it over the wall and a ninja kidnaps it forever. Loving BB saying "Big Brother did not interfere with Sparkles". Bet he wanted to though. What grown woman sleeps with a stuffed toy? Think about that sentence. It's four shades of wrong.

* The new kitchen- Too funny watching all the girls peeing on the rug, trying to claim it for their own. What is this? 1953?

*Nobbi's message to Terri- Go Jam yourself! lols! Can't wait to see how that relationship unfolds.

* Girl's reaction to Barney- Yah, they lost the ability to speak. Do you blame them? HOT!!

*Girl's reaction to Nathan- Basically, "Get out of the way, you're spoiling my view of Barney"

*Boy's reaction to Michael- They were impressed! The guy has stage presence even when he's not on a stage! I'm tipping the girls will be drooling over him too.

*Everyone's reaction to Cory- Kinda awestruck it seemed! It worries me GREATLY that Saxon the big dickhead, took him under his wing. That's worrying. It's the retarded leading the moronic. No good can come from that.

*Nobbi's reaction to Nanna Terri re-entering the house- One word. PRICELESS!!

All in all the first "real" live show, was a bit haphazard. There were some good moments but for the most part it was a little underwhelming. Kyle and Jackie just look too uncomfortable, and they have no idea how to handle that live audience. Lets hope things improve.

For mine, the biggest thing to come out of tonight was the change in voting process. FINALLY, I've been saying for at least two years (and you can check the forum for proof) that BB should make it so that people only vote to SAVE. This is the perfect situation for the louder HM's. Usually they are voted out first, but with this change, it's the people who the viewers feel NOTHING for that will get the arse. The under the radar flyers will perish because nobody will give enough of a fuck about them to waste coin voting to save them.

I'm LOVING this change. Well done BB!!
This week is going to be very interesting. I'll be glued to the live streams. I may need a catheter and an IV drip to keep me alive.

Cop an eyefull of this dude! His name is Craig Barnett and he goes by the name of Barney. A 33 year old model and surf lifesaver, he was also a 2008 finalist in the Cleo Bachelor of the year competition.

Poor Little Rima!

Last night during Friday night games, Rima fell awkwardly during one of the tasks and unfortunately broke her leg.
Channel Ten released this statement;

During last night's Friday Night Live games, an accident occurred where Rima fell during one of the challenges and as a result was taken straight to hospital following treatment by the Big Brother medical team.

X-rays revealed Rima has broken her leg and is expected to take several weeks to recover.

She is in fantastic spirits with her husband Carl by her side.

Rima said: “I’ve broken my leg but my spirit is still intact.

“I’ll speak to everyone about the amazing experience in the Big Brother House very soon.

“I just want you to know that the hospital food is much better than the food in the Big Brother House.”

This week's Friday Night Live game was an exercise where housemates were required to hold on to a tilting platform, with the last person holding on winning the competition.

Those that couldn’t hold on slid down the platform onto a well-padded surface.

Rima was one of the last housemates holding on, but she slid down the platform at a tilt of approximately two meters and unfortunately landed awkwardly on the padded surface.

All games on Friday Night Live are tested three times or more and approved by a Work Place Health and Safety Officer.

The officer is involved in the creation and execution of the games which are modified to various degrees depending on the fitness and capabilities of each housemate.

During the telecast, the officer remains on the arena floor with the housemates at all times.

All housemates are required to wear appropriate safety gear during all games.

A nurse is in attendance during all games and a doctor on call for the duration of the program.

This does not bode well at all, and could turn six shades of bad once the likes of TT and ACA get hold of it.
Poor little Rima. You have to wonder whether the task people took into account her size and weight with that particular task. She's only a meter high, that's the size of an average three or four year old!
I hope she recovers quickly and without complications. I was really starting to warm to her and I'm sure she would have been an asset to the house later on.

The question remains whether she'll be replaced or maybe even come back later in the series, AND how ESS and TEN will handle the fallout and obvious criticism that will follow.

It was the worst kept "secret" on Australian Television, (besides Bert's hair plugs) and I held out hope till the bitter end that the whispers were wrong, but NO!

Corey Worthington, that complete waste of DNA, is going into the house with the gatecrashers on Sunday.

On the one hand I know it's just a marketing ploy, it's a cheap ratings grab and regardless of how many people are appalled at the very thought of Corey being on the show, we WILL watch, we WILL talk about it, we WILL fall for the hype because it has "train wreck television" written all over it.

BUT, at the same time, it just makes me cringe and wish that the production team were confident enough in the HM's already in the house to generate the ratings they so dearly desire, without resulting to stunts.

Nobody likes Corey. Even MySpazz lovin' teens don't like him anymore. He has NOTHING to offer as a housemate or even as a 'representative' of his peer group. There is nothing endearing about him, he's smug, rude and above all, fucking STUPID.

Why, Big Brother? Whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy????????

I have a horrible feeling this has the potential to backfire in a big way. I hope I'm wrong.

Nobbi In The Kombi AND She's Baaaack....sorta

Firstly I gotta say, the BB voice, the one who spoke to Dixie about her mum? MOIST! He really should get a part time job on one of those phone sex lines. I'd take out a mortgage sized loan to listen to that mofo. All. Night. Long. BOOO YA!!

Where were we?
Oh yeah, Nanna's "Housemate hand grenade" that threw Nobbi into the Kombi.
What is he bitchin' for? If I were in that house I'd volunteer to be in there away from some of the mind numbingly morose HM's. (looking at Saxon, Rory and Brigitte) Plus, who wants to sleep in a bed like that?
Can you imagine the odours? What if you were stuck in the middle? You'd get sooo hot. If a few people farted at once you'd risk methane poisoning! YUCK!

The only harsh thing about it is not being allowed into the house. It's grating on the Nob after one night, so I can imagine he may scale a wall or two in a few weeks if he's still there.

I feel some dot points coming on. Bear with.

* What is up with Dixie and her convo re the jubblies with Rory? I get that the girl is feeling a little insecure around all the plastic in there, she's missing her mum, I get that. But the whole conversation seemed geared towards getting Rory to acknowledge her in some way, and the only way she could get it was to draw attention to her fantastic rack. HOWEVER, she's obviously conflicted by this, because on the one hand she says she"admires his honesty" yet she also feels his comments were "ignorant". Is she just reaching out for some male company and at the same time hating on herself for NEEDING to resort to that? You tell me. I'm channeling Oprah.

*Why is there ALWAYS a HM or two that insist on parading around in stupid ,fucking, hats?
I know they're attention whores (takes one to know one) but PLEASE, ban that crap from the house. They have a hundred cameras on them, what more do they want?

*The food situation- At first it appeared they had gone from famine (last few seasons) to feast. Pancakes for breakfast anyone? I was thinking they may all have to apply for 'The Biggest Loser' after the show. THEN they play dinner bingo and some of the HM's end up with sardines on toast or slices of cheese.
I'm loving how BB is messing with their heads.....and their stomachs.

* The whole Travis' sexuality thing- I'm totally confused. I don't want to stereotype, I really don't, but I work with a bunch of gay boys and they're all screaming "Queen" every time Travis head pops up on the tv. Is it just the voice? The mannerisms? The duck pj's? Help me out!

* looks like Nan is coming back. No really? Seriously! Like we didn't know!! Good news is that she isn't in some "secret house", she's not even IN the BB compound. She's in lockdown once more and will re-enter the house with the new HM's (intruders? noooo, we don't use that word any more, they're 'gatecrashers') on Sunday.

Can't wait for the Nanna Vs Nob smackdown! Bring it!

First Eviction. Or Is it?

The housemates spent the first night in BB land locked out of the house and with the uneasy task of choosing someone to be "evicted". They stayed up all night and by sunrise their decision had been made. Of course it was no real surprise to see that Terri was chosen and subsequently "evicted". I doubt anybody really believes this is the case and after seeing a highlight of tomorrow nights show, it seems she will be getting some sort of revenge.

I refuse to believe that BB is letting such a big personality go so soon. Watch this space.

Today's daily show provided an interesting peek into the minds of the HM's and how they intend to "play the game". Some, like Brigitee, were totally oblivious, whilst others like David and Ben, were showing a strong hand from the get go. Having them nominate in front of each other was an awesome idea and one I'd love to see them keep for ALL nominations. Won't happen,but it would surely set the cat amongst the pigeons.

The nominations panned out like this.

Rebecca- Chose Ben because she felt they didn't "communicate"
David- Ben because they didn't 'connect'.
Terri- Nobbi, for being too "touchy feely with the girls, AND her". NOT because he's Asian. Oh no.
Bianca- Nobi, for the same reason. She doesn't like being "touched". Ice princess, much?
Rima- Brigitte, because she had the least in common with her.
Travis- Rory, because he thought Rory would be "safe" for sure.
Renee- David, same theory. A 'safe bet'.
Brigitte- Rima, didn't 'connect". I suspect it was tit for tat though.
Nobbi- Terri, nothing in common, he doesn't like older people. (I suspect just revenge again)
Ben- Terri, Generation gap, and he came on BB to "escape" his mum.
Saxon- Terri, he didn't get to know her.
Rory- Terri, didn't connect. Went on to say it wasn't because she was older even though he had told at least two other HM's it was precisely for this reason.
Dixie- Brigitte, for acting ditzy. Oh how I love her.

So it was sayonara Terri....................for now.

The thing that struck me most about this eviction was not Terri going, that was a foregone conclusion really, but Ben's reaction to being nominated a few times. In particular he had a huge problem with a nomination coming from David and bleated on a few times to the other HM's about David not being genuine, and playing a "nice guy" role.

I don't buy it. My theory is that Ben is hugely intimidated by David, who is obviously intelligent, more mature, and more well liked by the other HM's. I believe that Ben, being the egomaniacle, pompous twat that he is, pictured HIMSELF as taking the "Alpha male" position on early, because clearly his superior intellect would cast him in such a role.
He's floundering. He hasn't found his niche, and is being usurped by David. He doesn't like it.

Funny also to see Brigitte a little peeved with her ONE nomination. This girl is used to being liked and being accepted for the "ditzy, fun loving, blonde" that she portrays. She's not used to being challenged about her persona, and she was quite gobsmacked.

So far I'm loving hard on Rima, Alice and Dixie. None of the boys are really doing it for me yet.

Tomorrow we see Terri take her revenge. Look out Nobi, you may be packing your shit and moving to the other side of the house very soon.

Big Brother '08. Let The Circus Begin!

So, I finally got a chance to sit down and watch the launch show, I know, I know, very slack, but it's a busy time where I work and I'm lucky I got to watch it at all. Boooo to paid employment!

Anyhoo, I have to say I was very bloody impressed! I've read a lot of criticism already about the HM's. People saying they're typical bogan/bimbo clones, but I don't agree. I think BB has finally got the HM mix right. Sure we have the token eye candy, the token ockers, but there is enough variety amongst the rest to balance them out. My only criticism is that we could probably have done with another "Tim". The house has sorely missed that kind of character for a few years now, but having said that, who knows what surprises the HM's will pull out yet? One of them very well could be the type of "thoughtful, lefty, intellect" that Tim represented.

As for the show, I thought it was awesome. The new theme music was fresh and funky, the set was eye catching and vibrant, and the hosts pulled it off in a way I didn't believe they could.

I hate to say it, but Kyle had me laughing, and Jackie-O was as polished and poised as always. They were engaging, both with the audience and the HM's, and above all they were entertaining to watch.

With the HM promo packages that were shown, we didn't learn too much about them, BUT there was none of the big "Oh I'm so outrageous, I'm gonna shake up the house" boasting that we've seen in previous years, and that's a good thing. This way we get to know the HM's without all the built up expectations (that usually fall flat) and false first impressions.

So, who are the Housemates? Lets have a looksee.

Dr Alice- The vet. 24, Vic. According to Live News, she's a "high achiever with a private boarding school education – a scholarship student who fought hard to keep her place and get into Uni to study vet science. Alice is confrontational and feisty; she will not shy away from a disagreement. She is ultra competitive and looking for Mr Right.
My opinion- I like her. She's clearly intelligent, she's hot and she has fabulous boots! (Bite me, shit like is important) The whole package. I think I have a girl crush!!

Ben, 19, Law Student, WA- Ben, a law student, is a quintessential head boy with a wicked sense of humour. Ben’s considerable wit is dry and delivered with expert timing. Despite often being the voice of reason and an organizer, Ben is easily frustrated. He admits to bouts of road rage and is constantly annoyed by slow walkers! Ben is single – he has only had one girlfriend.

My opinion- Could he be impressed with himself any more than he is? The ego has landed. I think he could see himself as better than some of the other HM's just for his superior intellect. Lets hope he's brought down a peg or three as the show goes on.

Bianca, 18, Student, QLD- Bianca’s family describes her as the three B’s: “Bitch, Boobs and Brains!” Of Italian parentage, Bianca is bright and passionate about the works of Plato and Shakespeare. She says her voluptuous body is both an asset and a liability. She rarely goes on dates and claims she has a sign in her head which says “RUN”.

My opinion- Oh purlease! Her boobs are a hindrance? Okaaaaaaay. If she thought that she wouldn't have them pushed so high up under her chin! She's obviously gorgeous though, but appears a bit snooty on first viewing. I have to like her for the way she zinged Kyle though. The whole "Creepy old men" line was Gold. She's a quick wit. I like.

Brigitte, 20, Waitress, ACT - Brigitte is a self confessed drama queen and party girl. She loves photography, shopping, dressing up and having fun. Brigitte would “NOT be caught dead on national TV with no make-up on”.

My opinion- Well that's pretty much all you have to know about her. So far she's the most one dimensional person in the house and not the brightest crayon in the box by all accounts. She strikes me as a giggler. Gigglers need to drowned at birth. Pretty girl though, hot body, one for the pervy boys, but there is only ONE DramaQueen babbbbyyyy! Oh yeah! Huzzah!

David, 32, Fire Fighter, NSW- David was raised as a member of the Exclusive Brethren, a religious sect that he says ‘denied him the real world’ until he escaped as at the age of 19. He had never eaten in a restaurant and never kissed a girl. Since his “escape”, David has been a policeman and a fireman. David is a natural born leader and gym junkie. He is opinionated and is obsessed with celebrity gossip and scandals!

My opinion- Possibly one of the most intriguing housemates we've seen in a while. I'm tipping there is a lot to learn about this guy, his life experience alone is worlds away from most, and besides that, he's a hot fireman! What more could we want?

Dixie, 21, Mental Health Worker/Student, NSW- Dixie is an outgoing, country girl, a mental health worker who also studies sports psychology at Uni. Her work and tutoring have turned her into an expert counselor. Dixie spent her early childhood growing up on the outskirts of an Aboriginal mission. Dixie’s prized possession is her car which she has affectionately named ‘Beyonce’. Although Dixie admits to being “boy crazy”, she has never had a proper boyfriend because of her commitment issues.
My opinion- LOVE her. Not least because finally we have a proud Koori girl on prime time TV, but because she seems real and sincere and isn't a stick figure with fake jubblies! I can't wait to see her interactions with Terri. I'm hoping for smackdown!!

Nobbi, 21, Commerce Student, VIC- Nobuyuki, or Nobbi for short, describes himself as insane and an attention seeker. A high achiever in all fields especially sport and music, Japan-born Nobbi says he is always skating on thin ice but never crosses the line. Only been in love once and then heartbroken, Nobbi is now happily single.

My opinion- Metrosexual egomaniac! He was strutting around like a Rooster within minutes of entering the house, and I'm tipping he'll get on my nerves within hours of the live stream starting. What the fuck was up with his towel?? Crusty much? Someone introduce this boy to a fleshlight. STAT.

Rebecca, 22, Waitress, WA- Rebecca is a promo model/waitress who is very comfortable in her own skin. She says she’s a daddy’s girl, proud of her job and will take on all comers if challenged. Rebecca has a bizarre foot phobia which leaves her unable to ever be barefoot. She dreams of being a successful model in the short term but has a long term goal to be a nutritionist or dietician, saying overweight people frustrate her!

My opinion- Oh lordy, here we go with the promo model/Ralph girl wannabe. *le sigh*We were going SO well up this point! Didn't really learn much about her except that her "body is an advertisement" for her personal training. Lets hope she has more depth to her personality than that.

Renee, 22, Abattoir Worker, NSW- Renee is a rugby playing tom boy who earns a living as a deboner at her local abattoir. Her mother took her to the doctor when she was five – he tested her to see if she was deaf – but found out she’s just loud. A fair dinkum country girl, Renee is very animated and in your face.
My opinion- Seems like a straight shooter, an "in your face" rough as guts kinda chick. It will be interesting to see if she can find a niche for herself amongst the girls (she already knows Dixie) or whether she hangs with the boys. She doesn't like "princesses" and there seems to be a few in there. Fingers crossed for bloodshed! Yah!

Rima, 25, Performer, VIC- Rima is a professional belly dancer who was born in Melbourne of Lebanese parents. She’s feisty, outspoken and opinionated with a dry sense of humor. Married for just a year, Rima’s husband is excited about her decision to go into the Big Brother house. She’s a small package with a big personality.
My opinion- At first, I must admit, it was hard to look at her. I felt uncomfortable. From what we saw though, she seems like a gutsy, firey little package and I don't think she'll take anyones shit. Her husband is six foot tall...........................um..........odd, but anyway. I'm looking forward to the dynamic she'll bring. Whether people will be awkward around her (Terri already wondered aloud if there would be a step for her to use the dunny) and how she'll handle the not so bright HM's questions (Hello Saxon and Brigitte). One to watch.

Rory, 21, Bricklayer, VIC- Rory’s good looks, chiseled body and funky wardrobe make him very popular with the ladies. He is loud and confident and could struggle with being told what to do. Rory is anti-religion but at the same time has very traditional views. He grew up in a very poor suburb which he refers to as “the ghetto”. His favourite “book” is FHM and his biggest pet hate is being forced to pay 20cents for a sachet of tomato sauce! Rory is recently single.
My opinion- Meh. Bogan, Ocker, Brickie. Not much else to say. I hope theres more to him than was shown in his package.

Saxon, 22, Truck Driver/Doorman, SA- Heavily tattooed and physically imposing, Saxon has led a self-confessed sheltered life. He says he struggles to socialise with “trendy types”. Saxon believes in UFOs, the paranormal and conspiracy theories to the extent that he has the word ‘Roswell’ tattooed on his arm. Saxon has a “psychological allergy to vegetables” and cannot function without meat. He is currently single.
My opinion- Beam me up Scotty!!! I'm hoping he'll be returned to the mothership soon. Didn't like him at all! Did you see his face every time a good looking female HM entered? He was almost salivating with excitement. Ewwww. He's got that serial killer look in his eyes.

Terri, 52, Retail Manager, NSW- An outspoken mother of two and grandmother, Terri will be the oldest person to go into the Big Brother House. Terri grew up in poverty, but now cites Pauline Hanson as her idol and has right wing views. Terri is passionate and political and frustrated with the younger generation. She is very anti drugs and a vociferous atheist. Her most prized possession is her grandson.

My opinion- I wanted to hate her, and I'm sure I will eventually, but she wasn't nearly as offensive as I expected her to be. She doesn't seem to have a filter between brain and mouth and I think that will cause some hilarious moments. Two things I noticed last night. When she greeted Nobbi, she was up in his face and said her name like she was talking to a deaf person........or non-english speaking refugee, which she clearly assumed he was. She said "TERRI" very slowly and deliberately. Haaaahaha! She also made a point of asking Rima what nationality she was. Did you see that? Love it, silly old boiler.

Travis, 20, Marketing Coordinator, NSW- Travis’ trademark is his high-pitched and squeaky voice. He has a unique look and is flamboyant and excitable. Travis is a virgin who attends church and is antidrugs. Women like him – he’s a girl’s best friend. His favourite movie is “The Devil Wears Prada.” He has had three girlfriends but his best friend is his horse named ‘Thunder’. Travis is honest and admits he is hoping for a crack at the prize money.
My opinion- He seems like a sweetheart but I just can't get past that VOICE. Oh sweet Jebus, I want to hack off my own ears every time he opens his mouth. Also, not gay? My Gaydar was clicking off the Richter!

In other news, the HM's "evicted" someone this morning. I will bet my best pair of Prada mules that it was Terri. However, I don't believe for one second it was a legit eviction. I'm guessing that little secret house extension will come into play and that's where that person will go.
Just a theory mind you, no insider goss on that one.

The three HM's chosen by the public go into the house next week.

All in all, I'm very hopeful that his will be the best season yet. All the ingredients are there and I think the producers have been very brave in their choices and changes that they've made. My only complaint is that we're seeing less of Mike Goldman. I think his popularity has been underestimated and although the ratings from last night were astronomical. 1.9Mill!, Mike will be sorely missed, and Uplate even more so.

Asside from that, Hooray for getting rid of boring rules, shopping, fines and the Big Brother persona of old who was mostly a humourless, dullard. It's time for the fun to begin.

So strap yourselves in, and lets ride this bastard to the bitter in. Who's with me????

Well, If I was beside myself with excitement with Nan going into the BB house. I am positively overjoyed with the sneak peek give to an Adelaide newspaper, is no less than a full figured, Aboriginal woman, named Dixie.

I've had this confirmed as true, but we have to wait till tonight for the promo ad and pic.
All we know at the moment is that is that she's a 21 year old, mental health worker and student who grew up on the outskirts of an Aboriginal mission in NSW.

I am so excited about the two housemates revealed so far. They are worlds away from what we've previously seen and I cannot wait for the new dynamics these women will bring to the house.

Ok, I am copping much grief and just hateful, f*cking, bitter, shit, on the web for my "inside info".
Mainly on that abomination BB chaos, and on a shitful little blog too.

Here is the deal. i don't make this shit up, i do not "guess", and I do not get my info second hand from media sources.

I have two very reliable sources who are yet to lead me astray and when I get info from them, i state it as FACT, because it is.

HOWEVER, since last year I have had many people email me with gossip, post it on my blog, and pm me on BBBA with info. THAT stuff is not always correct, and I take a risk running with it. BUT, I always state when I am not sure of something, if it's merely "rumour" I will say so and I will always put up my hand when I am wrong and own it.

I can't be 100% right all the time due to the nature of this show. Things are constantly changing and evolving, but my sources have never let me down on the big stuff. As I said on that OTHER forum, I've actually been proven right more than wrong, but they don't want to know about that, because I'm just a spectacularly good guesser!!!

NOW, You can choose to believe what I say, you can choose to disregard it, no skin off my nose, at the end of the day it's all a bit of fun.
I don't profess to know it all, I never have.
Take it or leave it. Just stop with the fucking juvenile hating and mud slinging!

Big Brother Promo '08

This was already leaked on BBBA last week but few people believed it was the real deal. I put my feelers out, found the story had legs and said HALLELUJAH!!

This ad is a masterstroke. It's genius. It's the best promo ad for BB EVER.
This short, snappy, promo, is enough to make thousands of fans take notice with a glimmer of hope in their heart that this year will indeed deliver.

Fingers crossed it's a sign of things to come.

Big Mouth.

Today, The Daily Terrorgraph announced that the new panel show for Big Brother, called Big Mouth, would be hosted by Tony Squires and Rebecca Wilson. You can read Brekkie's excellent summary on BBBA for the details.

So what do we think about THAT little bombshell?

Well, on the plus side, we have two experienced, pop culture savvy, experienced, mature, journo's hosting the show. They have extensive media skills in print, radio and TV, so they will bring all that to the table on Big Brother.
It's also a huge shot out of left field, so it's adding that shock value, intrigue and anticipation about the new season. All pluses.
The fact that they are two OLDER personalities will also bring a different flavour to the show and hopefully their insights and views will appeal to a much larger audience demographic.

On the down side, they're both essentially sports journalists and one might ask, "Well, what the hell do they know about Big Brother? Have they ever watched the show? Are they fans, will the show be "The Fat" type production with a reality TV perspective"?

We also have to wonder if a BB panel type show will work again after the failure of the venture in 2003.

In my opinion, although I'm not a huge fan of Rebecca Wilson, she doesn't mince words, she's sharp witted and sassy, and she obviously has good chemistry with Tony Squires having worked with him on a TV panel show before and most recently on radio, so I'm going to keep my mind open about this and wait to see what they have to offer.

The major plus and the thing that fills me with hope for the new season, is the mere fact that the producers are trying something different and are going out on a limb with their choices. Although the panel show has been done before, it was probably a little OVER done. Too many panelists, too many big personalities all trying to have their three minute screen grab and it seemed to be a badly put together hash job.

Clearly, things will be different this time. The hosts are not people you would necessarily associate with the Big Brother concept, they're older, more experienced journalists rather than the usual ex-housemate, C grade celeb and pop psych people, and the timeslot is much later (9.30pm weeknight) which also promises us a more "adult" viewing experience.

The other positive I feel is that a panel show allows another avenue for viewer discussion. It's another chance for fans of the show to have a say, to have a voice, and to feel more involved which is certainly a good thing and something that's been missing for too long.

Whether it's a total flop or a huge success, BB is moving in the right direction. People are talking, people are counting down the days and we're ready to embrace the new.

BB, April 28th. BRING. IT. ON!!!!

Housemate Selection

I've had a few emails and messages from people begging to be put out of their misery re the whole timeline for selection process.

My information is that nobody has been called yet, and that potential housemates will not know if they've been successful for a few more weeks yet. My info was "possibly Easter!!!"

However, as with everything BB related, this could change at any time.

Also, the rumour that the house renovations have been delayed due to bad weather is completely untrue. The house is actually well on schedule.
